Dahlias

Have I told you how much I love dahlias?  So many different colors, shapes, forms, and sizes.  My favorite part of our Interstate Fair is the amazing dahlia display.

In Spokane we are lucky enough to have one of the few dahlia test gardens in the country, and it is just a few blocks from our house!  Here are just a few I was able to capture on a recent evening visit.

Big Sky Country

We are the luckiest to have some wonderful friends that live just outside Whitefish, Montana.  We spent the last weekend with them on their beautiful property.  They have an adorable homesteader's log cabin that has been lovingly restored for their guests- it belonged to my adopted grandparents, so it was especially neat to get to stay there.  Montana really is the most beautiful place.

Summer

My produce box from Fresh Abundance was literally overflowing with plums this week...cut up they were the most lovely colors of yellow, pink, and red.  Oh, summer!

Babe

I had the pleasure of meeting a friend's newborn little girl last weekend...and I had to share...

The Friends of Manito

Twice a year, the Friends of Manito put on a huge plant sale to benefit special projects at the park.  The selection is huge, the volunteers are excited, and tens of thousands of dollars are raised.

The Farm Chicks

My sister and I had a wonderful morning exploring the annual Farm Chicks sale...so many wonderful things to browse and buy, and better yet, to photograph!  We attended one of the first of these sales at the Five Mile Grange, and have followed it to Fairfield, Washington, and now to the Spokane Interstate Fairground.  Though the venue has changed, the spirit has not- we love the Farm Chicks!
